Bioinformatics

Bioinformatics is the interdisciplinary study of biological systems through the collection, sharing, and analysis of data derived from DNA, RNA, protein, and cellular processes. It combines the most recent work in biology, genetics, statistics, and computer science and adds value increasingly as the information generated is integrated into all aspects of research at GSK.

The mission of Bioinformatics at GSK is to advance our strategies for finding validated, tractable, disease gene targets and understanding the genetic basis for drug responses by developing and exploiting new information, technologies, tools, and expertise to collect, manipulate, analyze, and understand genetic, genomic, and biological target information for the progression of GSK's overall research and development effort.
